Update Proxy Settings (if required)

If you are using a proxy server to connect to the internet, update the proxy server configuration (this must be done before activating your licence)

  • Open the file C:\ProgramData\DNV\Thales\Licensing\sntlcloudp_configuration_dnvas.xml in a text editor, e.g. Notepad.
  • Find the <ProxySettings> element in the file. By default, the <ProxyMode> value is set to 1 (corresponding to no proxy).
  • Update the <ProxySettings> element depending on whether manual or automatic proxy detection is being used, using the following format (replace the dummy values below with the actual values). Please contact your company's IT department to obtain the correct proxy configuration for your environment:
    • Manual proxy detection (ProxyMode = 2):
      • ProxyUser and ProxyPassword lines can be removed if not required.
      <ProxySettings>
        <ProxyMode value="2"/>
        <ProxyHost value="localhost" />
        <ProxyUser value="abc" />
        <ProxyPassword value="test" />
        <ProxyPort value="8080" />
      </ProxySettings>

    • Automatic proxy detection (ProxyMode = 3):
      <ProxySettings>
        <ProxyMode value="3" />
      </ProxySettings>

    • Automatic proxy detection (ProxyMode = 3), with .pac file support:
      <ProxySettings>
        <ProxyMode value="3" />
        <ProxyPAC value="http:<YOUR_PROXY_PAC_URL_HERE>/<FILENAME>.pac"/>
      </ProxySettings>

Activation

To activate your licences you need to Add your Access Key or Server Name (obtained from your company's licence adminsitrator) using the Licence activation tool, available in Application Version Manager (AVM) version 4.1 or later.

The screenshots and activation steps below are taken from Application Version Manager version 4.2.

Note: If you have AVM 4.0 installed and you uninstall it after activating your licence, you will need to reinstall AVM and reactivate your licence using the License Activation Tool from AVM. This step is not required if you are using AVM 4.1 or later.

Cloud-managed Licence Activation

Add your access key. After it has been successfully registered, your licensed applications will be ready to use.

Device-locked Licence Activation

Add your access key. Once the activation process is complete, the tool displays the products your company is licensed to use with the selected access key.

Select the products you want to lock to your device, and then click on the Lock to device button.

Note that the Lock to device operation can only be reverted by DNV.

You can now launch your licensed applications and start working.

Network Licence Activation

Add your server name. After the server has been successfully registered, your licensed applications will be ready to use.

Multiple Licence Types

To use multiple licence types on the same device, you must have Application Version Manager (AVM) version 4.2 or later installed.

Support for using multiple licence types on the same device is available only in Sesam applications released from September 2026 onwards.

As shown in the image below, multiple access keys can be added. In this example, two Device-locked keys and one Cloud-managed key have been configured.

By default, licence access is checked in the following order: Device-locked, then Network and finally Cloud-managed licences. If required, you can customise the licence check priority, as shown below.

If you have registered more than one Network licence server, you can customise the order in which the servers are checked for available licences, as shown below.
